The redwing<\/strong> and Caesena <\/strong>are turdids that require more attention<\/strong> than others ( e.g., Song Thrush, Blackbird).Such species, nest in northern Europe where the climate and vegetation are different from the environments where other turdids breed. Therefore the breeder, must recreate an environment with the characteristics most similar to the natural environments where such individuals breed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is essential<\/strong>, in order to avoid the death of such individuals, to equip aviaries with mosquito nets <\/strong>if there is a possibility, and to make disinfections <\/strong>against mites, treating the walls of the aviaries. Recent studies and analysis have been able to establish the cause of deaths<\/strong> of such individuals due to contact and bites of mosquitoes<\/strong> possible vehicles of protozoan and viral viruses such as malaria plasmodium, usutu, West Nile. Therefore, avoiding contact, especially during warmer periods is a must to prevent possible deaths. The above is based on direct experience, numerous comparisons and visits with other breeders and veterinary consultations. We must also remember the importance also for such species ( saxel, Cesena) of artificial light programming<\/strong> for induction of amorous oestrus in advance of the season, a factor that allows us to finish the breeding season before the mosquitoes take over. <\/p>\n\n
