The blackbird is about 26 cm long and is a dimorphic species. The adult male has completely black plumage and the beak is yellow, the female is blackish-brown with grayish throat and dirty yellow beak. The weight is around 85-100 grams and the legs are dark brown. It has a wingspan of 35 cm and the tail length is about 8.6 cm.

Habitat:

is a widely distributed Palearctic species in Italy, where it is stationary, breeding, wintering and locally erratic. The blackbird is virtually ubiquitous, as it frequents a wide variety of environments, such as the countryside, parks, gardens, the bushy areas, forests with clearings, and urban and suburban areas. The pass begins with an initial peak in August, but the largest presences occur from mid to late September to late October.

Power supply:

feeds on insects, earthworms and a variety of insects, fruits, berries and seeds.

Reproduction:

Sexual maturity occurs after the first year of age. Brooding 2/3 times a year with 3/5 eggs laid from March to July. Usually the female broods, rarely aided by the male. Incubation is 2 weeks, the young emerge from the nest at the age of 14 days and then continue weaning by the pair.

Breeding:

very territorial species so breeding in fixed pairs in well-masked aviaries to preserve their privacy is recommended.
